Botox Hot Spots

By Anka Sanori

Botox injections are frequently used for many cosmetic applications. In the last few years there has been a significant increase in its use with more and more people seeking to change the way they look and shave off years with this simple and quick treatment. The reason for this primarily lies with how quickly the procedure can be performed, how simple the entire process is, the excellent result and the low cost associated with botox.

Fine lines and wrinkles on the face are a common treatment area for botox; it relaxes the muscles and skin when it is applied. There are three main sites that are most commonly injected:

- Forehead wrinkles

- Crow's feet lines around the eyes

- Vertical '11' lines between eyebrows

Forehead wrinkles

These 'frown lines' are one of the most common sites for botox injection. The forehead muscles are constantly being used and the skin and muscles are constantly under stress, so it is natural for frown lines and wrinkles to form. This is targeted first because it is considered one of the first signs of aging. Most troublesome for patients, amongst all facial creases, seem to be the forehead lines. The treatment does not require anaesthesia; it is simple, quick and effective. Repeat injections are usually required to preserve the crease-free look, but effects can last up to 6 months.

Crow's feet lines around the eyes

Due to constant muscle use, fine lines form at the corners of the eyes - these are referred to as crow's feet. It is an unpleasant but inevitable part of the aging process. Botox injections restore the look of younger, healthier skin by effectively reducing these lines, all without giving the skin a stretched appearance. Crow's feet treatment is the next sought-after treatment. As is the case with other botox treatments, effects can last for a period of up to 6 months following which additional treatments may be required.

Vertical '11' lines

When frowning, these are the two lines that form between the eyebrows. The depth of these lines can be reduced with Botox injections, and effectively smoothed out. The procedure takes around 10 to 15 minutes to perform and the results are excellent.

The top 3 sites on the face for botox injection are listed here. There are other sites such as chin lifts and botox injections around the mouth that may be performed, but these are a lot rarer.

Conclusion

For excellent cosmetic results that offer younger looking skin free of wrinkles and fine lines, one of the most preferred treatments is still Botox.
