By Shana Taylor

One of the key components of an effective weight loss plan is exercise. Problem is many people have no idea where to begin with exercise.

There are many different opinions on the best exercise to lose weight. The right combination of exercises can vary from person to person depending on factors like age, gender, medical conditions and overall health.

Although there is no one size fits all exercise, three exercises that work for weight loss are:

Going For A Walk

If you are new to exercise, walking is a great place to begin.

Walking while not as high impact as some other exercises can still help you lose weight and get in shape.

If you are just starting to exercise, dont overdo it. Walk as far as you can the first day and try to make it a little bit further each day thereafter. Eventually you will get to a point where you can walk several miles in record time.

Not only is walking good for losing weight, but it has been proven to increase your energy, lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of certain diseases such as type 2 diabetes.

Aerobic Dance Workouts

Dancing is a fun aerobic exercise that can help you lose weight and get in shape. With aerobic dance, you can burn anywhere from 200 calories to 1000 calories in an hour. It all Depends on the type and the intensity of the workout you chose.

There are other health benefits related to dancing as well. These include reducing stress levels, lowering blood pressure and increasing energy.

As with any workout routine, exercising for 30 minutes or more at least three times weekly is recommended for best results.

Swimming Laps

Swimming is one of the best exercises you can do to build muscle, improve cardio vascular health and lose weight.

Swimming utilizes muscles all throughout the body, which makes it great for toning, strengthening and weight loss.

If you swim regularly and eat healthier, you soon start losing weight and notice your body toning up.

Regardless of what exercise you decide to do, it is always important to begin with a warm up routine and end with a cool down session.

Any of the above exercise can be effective at helping you lose excess pounds.

At the end of the day only you can determine the best exercise to lose weight. Do something that challenges you but you enjoy enough to stick with long term.

Prior to starting a weight loss program it is important to check with your physician to obtain his or her approval first.
