Your Guide to Injectable Fillers

By Andy Baromm

Injectable fillers have gained popularity as they are a minimally invasive treatment. As these products gain popularity and acceptance, my patients are increasingly aware of the options. You can keep looking youthful, without a major surgery, with this quick, relatively painless treatment every 6-12 months.

Laugh lines

The most common area that soft tissue fillers are used to treat are laugh or smile lines. One to two syringes of filler will soften most laugh lines considerably, but more may be needed if your lines are particularly deep, or if you decide to treat the marionette lines.

Since there are a number of available fillers for fine and deep wrinkles, both may be used in the same patient. Physicians often layer them in the same areas in order to plump folds and fill the lines that often lie in the depths of those folds. They give definition to the lips and fill other wrinkles such as laugh lines, and can be given in minutes with a tiny needle. The results, which last 6-9 months, are instantaneous, producing a natural enhancement that is safe to the skin and gentle. You may return to normal activities within hours.

Lips

Women find that the last place they want to lose volume is from their lips. High on many people's wish list is a fuller and more sensuous mouth. Our lips start to become thinner, with fine lines eventually starting to appear around the mouth, after our late twenties. You can restore your lips to their former glory by injecting a small amount of natural hyaluronic filler. If you are adding lost volume or just redefining the contours of your lips, the instant results of lip filler procedures will impress you. Your new lips can appear as subtle or obvious as you want.

Cheeks

Volume loss in your cheeks shows your age more than anything else. Cheek Augmentation using dermal fillers is an inexpensive way of creating a youthful look without resorting to invasive surgery.

Older skin may begin to lose its elasticity and plumpness over time. This leads to sagging around the cheek and jaw area, leading to an eventual loss of the face's shape and definition. An overall ageing effect to our appearance comes when cheekbones that were once round and prominent now appear somewhat sallow and flat. Cheek augmentation creates a much more balanced face shape by helping to re-define the shape of your face, filling and lifting the cheek areas as well as tightening the surrounding skin. The appearance of overly hollow cheeks and temples can also be improved by augmentation that adds volume to the area, giving a softer shape to an overly angular face.
