Sports Specific Training To Get Healthy And Fit

By Audrey McGuire

We all know that each sports specific training has its own rules and movements that is completely different from other exercise. Movements may not be entirely similar because each sport is created different. You would have to train hard and rigorously in order to succeed at any sport that you desire.

Basketball is a male dominant sport mainly because it is a rough contact sport that requires a lot of strength and agility. Basketball requires the player to dribble the ball across the court, and to shoot it at the basket. Of course the opposing team will try by all means to prevent the player from scoring while avoiding a foul. This game can get a bit violent because players sometimes find a way around the rules just to prevent you from shooting the ball.

Volleyball is popular as a female sport but nowadays, the males have also dominated this sport because of their increased strength and height. The players require special training because movements are unique to this sport. The athletes are to move in a lateral manner when receiving the ball.

Badminton is a popular sport in the Philippines and Asia because it is not an expensive sport to play. You will only need a shuttlecock, a racket, and a friend. Training can be easy, and athletes learn fast. The only thing that is hard in this sport is when you are trying to master the techniques. The movement is somewhat similar to volleyball, but badminton has a quicker pace.

Tennis may look somewhat similar to badminton, but the techniques and steps are very far off. The footing is different, and so are the movements. Tennis is a bit slower in pace. The racket is bigger and heavier, and the court is almost four times the size of that in badminton. Training for tennis also requires a much longer time than badminton.

In preparing for Taekwondo, you learn structured actions and sequences. The movements are solid and rigorous, unlike other sports that require fluid movements. Here in taekwondo, you must be strong and stern. The actions are precise and hard. You are even encouraged to shout or exhale every time you kick or punch. Taekwondo is an individual contact sport that opposes two players against each other to measure skill and strength.

Muay Thai is a traditional Thai martial arts that makes use of all the parts of the body. Kicking, punching, as well as grappling is allowed in this martial art. The goal is mainly to put down the opponent to the floor. The fights may seem to be violent but referees keep the fights at a safe limit.

Football focuses on the running endurance of the athlete. The player is made to run after the ball and kick it towards the goal. The team basses the soccer ball from player to player until they get to score at the other side of the field.

So take up sports specific training if you want to become an excellent player in a sport. Do not just practice a random sport because if you do not know the movements and techniques, you might end up having a bad injury. Take care of your body and become fit.
