The last one is the duodenal switch or the biliopancreatic diversion procedure. Of all the three, this one is the most complicated yet reaps the best results. It involves the removal of about eighty percent of the entire stomach. Afterwards, the majority of the intestinal tract is bypassed by connecting the duodenum to the end part of the intestine. This results in a smaller intake of food, specifically a lesser intake of calories, which effectively tones one down.

This procedure bears the highest weight loss percentage, as compared to the first two. It also has the lowest percentage when it comes to the regaining of the weight, which makes it the most favorable bariatric procedure when it comes to long term results.

It also is the best method when it comes to keeping deadly diseases in check. Those who have tried the DS method were less likely to develop obesity related ailments than those who have ignored it. DS patients also have lesser chances of dying due to diabetes, cancer, and cardiac arrest.

These said procedures, although they aim for weight loss, are not for beauty purposes. They are considered to be a corrective procedure to improve life. They do not blast off body fats, they just regulate food intake.
