Get Your Kids Started In Team Sports At The San Francisco Baseball Academy

By Marsha Klein

San Francisco Baseball Academy is thought to be the best baseball school in the area. They teach people from a variety of age groups, from young kids up to elderly people. The objective of the academy is to assist people who want to become high level sports professionals. They also work with teams and give advice to various leagues.

The academy focuses on encouraging peoples' passion for the sport. As well as providing coaching, you can hold your birthday party there or you can visit just for fun. The environment is very friendly and supportive which means there is no need to feel nervous about enrolling on any classes.

Michael Aicardi originally established the academy. He started off with only one customer but now has well over a hundred. His goal was to make baseball popular in the city and has contributed towards that by increasing the number of students. Three teachers now work in the top quality indoor training facility.

Joe Della Cella is one of the coaches. He cares passionately about the game and it's popularity within the city. From 2006 to 2008 he was assistant coach at the University Of San Francisco and Director Of Baseball Operations prior to that. In 2005, he received a Master of Arts degree in Sports Management.

Most classes are about an hour long. Kids are taught precise techniques and then they play matches in order to reinforce them. The best thing about the sport is that it requires technical skills rather than physical skills. In addition, there is no contact in the way that there is in football. As a result, most people can try their hand at it. It's also an excellent way of giving people experience in team games.

The youngest students are three years old. Classes for them tend to be in the morning and they learn about the basics of the game. This includes holding and swinging the bat, running to the bases and throwing the ball. Team play is emphasised, so is the importance of good manners and sportsmanship. The classes are very social too.

The lessons are geared toward understanding the requirements of each child. The coaches try to determine whether they are right or left handed and they try to find ways of improving each child's weaknesses. Everybody is taught the rules of the sport. They are given written documents so that they can spend time learning them at home. It takes years to understand all the rules, so an early start is very useful.

San Francisco Baseball Academy teach lessons to Major League students also. They are able to enroll on eight classes per week for eight weeks. Individual lessons last for about an hour. Students are able to go on any day between Monday and Friday. The lessons are scheduled for the same day every week. On completion of the course, it's very common for students to choose to join up for more. If students would like to enroll on more than one class a week, then they can do so.
