Are There Side Effects to Drinking Green Smoothies?

Many times when we begin doing something beneficial for our body, it will respond completely differently for a while than the way we anticipate it will. Such was the case when I started drinking green smoothie about a year ago. For the first several weeks I was irritable, suffered from headaches, and had bowel issues. I also experienced an initial decrease in my energy levels. I was not a happy camper.

Bloating, constipation, gas, and weight gain are all possible when beginning to drink green smoothies. Our bodies respond to all this nutrition by ridding itself of the toxin stored in it for decades. All of these side effects are a result of that process.

Constipation is many times the result of the intestinal tract beginning to break down and eject sludge that has lined its walls for a very long time. With over 30 feet of digestive tract to clean, there is probably a lot of gunk that needs to be cleaned off. Not only that, but every other organ in your body is beginning their house cleaning process as well. And there are only a few ways to get rid of the accumulated trash - nose, mouth, eyes, skin, or colon. Though there exists many causes for constipation and gas, there is a phrase that is appropriate to pass on - "This too shall pass."

Get more rest than normal and drink plenty of water. This will help move the contaminates through the digestive track quicker. To help with gas, don't consume high in fat snacks at the same time you drink your green smoothie. Shortly, the benefits of the more healthy eating plan will start to reveal positive results. Without being too graphic your bowel movements will eventually start to be more frequent (as they should since we eat three meals a day) and be without any strain. The intestinal gas may last for several months as the body continues to eliminate waste and toxins that have accumulated everywhere into many nooks and crannies. Ultimately, every thing will soon get back to normal and there won't be any obstacles.

Give you body time to readjust to the healthy lifestyle you are now subjecting it to and it will soon have you functioning in tip-top shape. I understand some of the side effects when starting to drink fruit/green smoothies sound fairly embarrassing. As with any thorough house cleanup, there's always going to be several messes and dust thrown about during the process. However, you will soon agree the efforts where all worthwhile once things begin to work better than they have in a long while.
